How to get help?
Depending on the severity of your problems there are four different
ways to obtain help:
- If a single or a few workstations, printers, programs, etc.
don't behave the way they're expected to, then send an E-mail to
<help@fy.chalmers.se>
(in English or Swedish). If you can't send an email you can try to call
Fysikdatorn Helpdesk at 772 27 72.
When reporting a problem do remember to state which equipment you
have experienced problems with and where it is situated
(room number and building). Try to describe your problem
as detailed as possible. Please write under which circumstances you
have experienced the problem and whenever possible if the same problem
appears on different computers and if other users experience the same
problem. Do send us the error messages the computer gives you. Finally
we appreciate very much if you could supply a relevant "Subject:"-line.
This helps us a lot to track single problem reports as a lot of letters
are sent to help@fy.chalmers.se.
- If the whole Unix-system or local network is down then call
Fysikdatorn Helpdesk (2772).
- All other issues, particularly requests for new accounts and
other accounting questions are dealt with during the Physics Computer
question (half)hour(*) Monday, Wednesday and
Friday 12.00-12.30 in room F4313. When an
accounting question has to be resolved personal appearance is required.
Be prepared to prove your identity and affiliation to this school.
