List of Charges

The policy of FysikDatorn is to administrate and maintain group UNIX computers at prime cost.

Administration and maintenance of group work stations and X-terminals

The different costs of having a workstation or a X-terminal as a client to a server at FysikDatorn, with services as detailed in the policy document, are listed below. These costs are collected each year by FysikDatorn . Note that only item 4 is kept by FysikDatorn.

  1. Chalmers Computer Netgroup (CDG) (even if the computer is not connected to the network): Note that this fee was 500 kr per year before January 1, 1997.

  2. Software contract (SUN):

  3. Service contract (SUN), yearly price depends on the machine:

  4. FysikDatorn
The costs for the groups for first and second halves of 1998 hole 1999 and first half of 2000 are available online. They include charges for the private disks (see below). Note that the data can only be accessed by the members of the corresponding groups.

Extra disc space

A user who wants more than the standard quota of disc space can have that either by renting extra space or by purchasing a private disc which is maintained and backed-up by FysikDatorn. We encourage users who wants more disc space to cooperate by sharing a private disc.

Heavy computing using UNICCs resources

The cost for the group that is a member of the school of physics to use UNICCs computer resources comprises both a fixed cost and a moving cost. The fixed cost is proportional to the number of accounts at UNICC that belong the the group, while the moving cost is proportional to the CPU usage. The total fixed cost and moving cost for all groups at the school is about 60 kkr and 100 kkr, respectively. For the fiscal year of 96/97, the fixed cost is 620 kr/user while the moving cost is roughly 1 kr for each CPU hour.
