  Temples in the mist.

The ancient and the modern meet at the gateway.

Going to Fujiyoshida

Physicist going out into the big, big world!

Walking trip at lake Seiko, close to Mt. Fuji (which we do not belive in, by the way)

Dinners with friends in Tokyo

Dinner with Kenta and his friends at a very japaneese resturant.

Dinner with Casey and Hans - we even ate the crunchy part of the chicken!

Some Tokyo pictures

  Shinjuku by day...

  ... and by night!

Christian and Mikael going into the Meiji shrine in Tokyo.

There were little children dressed up everywhere and we got photofever...

...but we never quite understood what the young people at the train station wanted?!

The Japaneese seem to enjoy the pachinko games incrediby much?!

The fishmarket - commotion and chaos and we were in the way everywhere!

  Octopus warning!

  All kinds of seafood...

Eating in Japan...

The food is good but the eating is not too comfortable!

Sometimes it was handy to point at the food you wanted...

But the simplest was to get your coffee hot from the vending machines!

Pictures from Kyoto, Kobe and Himeji

At the Nanzenji temple in Kyoto. The garden is called 'tiger cubs crossing the stream'.

One of the beautiful gardens in Nazenji.

We spent a wonderful evening in Kobe!!!

The Himeji castle, completely renovated in the 1950's!

  View from the top floor.

The Himeji castle and a part of the spiralling moat.

Takayama in the mountains

Colourful trees at a temple in Takayama.

A monk and the temple dog under the yellow Ginko tree.

Japan is very colourful in November (especially when the sun shines)!

Visiting RIKEN before going home

Tanihata-san invited us out and we had fugu (blowfish)!

The more normal sashimi, from non-poisionous fish!

'Take a walk on the waahsash' (Christian loved the karaoke as much as the rest of us)
