starting Period 2, 1998/99
Info-meeting! - October 14, 13:15 F6111
Audience
The course is one of the semi-compulsory (elective) courses offeredby the School. The suitable level is the 4th year undergraduates from
physics, chemistry, mechanical engineering and electronics (F, K, M, E). The
course is also suitable for graduate students from the same areas.
Aim and contents:
The aim of the course is to provide a broad and up-to-dateoverview of the rapidly expanding field of laser processing of materials
(including medical applications) and laser induced surface processes. It
also covers laser based analytical methods in materials science
* Light - matter interactions
* Instrumentation
* Laser treatment and processing of materials
* Laser based analytical methods
Course organization:
The course has three parts: (i) lectures, (ii)laboratory/industrial demonstrations, and (iii) project work: presentation
and discussion.
Readers
are Dinko Chakarov and Alexander Brodin.
Course examination:
The examination has two components: (i) Examination onthe course content trough one (end) course test and (ii) Project work and
presentation.
Requirements:
Attendance and approved test and project work.
Examinators:
are Per Jacobsson, Materials Physics andBengt Kasemo, Applied Physics.
