Elective programmes

20 credit units each

The Elective Programme consists of an introductory "semi-compulsory" course

and one of the following three recommended tracks:


These tracks are of great interest in present research and development both at university and in industry. These are areas of the future. The School of Physics and Engineering Physics is very strong in these areas.

Apart from the introductory course in Nanoscience - providing a theme for the entire programme - there is no standard curriculum of Elective courses. The Elective programme is intended to be composed by the students themselves from a menu of possibilities according to individual interests.

Chalmers has a very wide selection of Elective courses. Swedish and foreign students can choose courses from the entire Elective program of the School of Physics and Engineering Physics, provided that the courses are taught in English. Note, however, that some of these courses may not be routinely lectured in English and therefore may not be easily available to non-Swedish-speaking students.
