The Speed and Lifetime of Cosmic Muons

BACK

Administrative matters

Before you come to the first session in the laboratory, you should have planned your work! In particular, you should present electronic coupling schemes using the available modules for treating the detector signals in the two measurements (speed and lifetime). You should also have ideas about the calibrations and background sources/reduction. The laborative exercise is divided in two parts, since you need to collect data for about a week to get enough statistics for the lifetime measurement. On the first day you should expect to spend about 8 hours in the laboratory (of course depending you the quality of your preparations :o) !). The work to be done on the second occasion usually takes two hours. Bring a PC-floppy for this time!

Here you can check the status of your report, follow some interesting (?) links, and possible news will also be posted here.

The report should be handed in to Karin (or put it in her mailbox), and it can be fetched from her office (ask someone to let you in if she's not there!).

The report HAS to be handed in before 1 June 2000 unless you want to redo the project next year!
