Chemistry is fun! Chemistry has motion! The development of ways to display chemistry as moving pictures is surely helping in the understanding of chemistry, both at high-school and at research level. Perhaps you would like to start by taking a closer look on the molecules that my research concerns ? Well, here are some Quicktime (*.mov) movie clips generated from my quantum mechanical calculations.

• Breathing mode of PEO (Poly(ethylene oxide)) wrapped around a lithium ion.
• Lithium "rattling" inside a cage of PEO.
• A conceivable low energy pathway for lithium ion transport in a polymer electrolyte. Every single frame is a result from a quantum mechanical calculation. (This movie has been shown in 'NOVA' on the Swedish TV4 channel )
• The TFSI anion in the vibrational mode often described as a d(CF3) mode. Is it really... ??
• The corresponding acid - HTFSI and the N-H stretching mode.
• The TFSI anion SO2 vibrational mode.

Perhaps you prefer still pictures ? Take a look in the graphics section instead - where you'll find some nice raytraced images. If you like something a bit in between : the VRML section contain several virtual reality coded structures. There you may turn and twist the molecules your own way.
